Darkest Age Series by A.J. Lake
This is a wonderful read for ages 8 on up! Well, not sure 8 year olds would hold enough attention to read the series, but I think they would love it if Mom or Dad read it to them. Plus, Mom & Dad would love this series too! I hope they make it into a movie, it would be awesome to watch if done right.
Synopsis:

Loved the characters, and the whole plot. Loved how the author writes, really pulls you into the story. I enjoyed every minute of each book and was sad to have it end. My son was the one who got me into them, he had rented them from the school library. I am always skeptical on a young read, but this is for all ages imo. Great series, pick them up today!
