{Book Review} Need Series

Need, Captivate & Entice by Carrie Jones

I first have to say this series isn't done, one more book coming. So if your like me and hate to wait for them all, hold off until the 4th comes out, or just jump right into it. My daughter gave me the first 2 for my birthday, I was skeptical really. I do love me some strange creature tale books, but there are so many saturating the book stores since Twilight came out that I am a bit weary, but I was pleasantly surprised by this series.

Synopsis:

Need (first book)
Zara collects phobias the way other high school girls collect lipsticks. Little wonder, since life’s been pretty rough so far. Her father left, her stepfather just died, and her mother’s pretty much checked out. Now Zara’s living with her grandmother in sleepy, cold Maine so that she stays “safe.” Zara doesn’t think she’s in danger; she thinks her mother can’t deal.

Wrong. Turns out that guy she sees everywhere, the one leaving trails of gold glitter, isn’t a figment of her imagination. He’s a pixie—and not the cute, lovable kind with wings. He’s the kind who has dreadful, uncontrollable needs. And he’s trailing Zara.

I do not want to tell you too much, but there are pixies involved, and were's like were-tigers, were-eagles, were-wolf but different then you normally see. The story line was intriguing, kept you guessing throughout the first book. I did enjoy Zara's chanting phobia's in the first book and wish the author had not strayed so far away from that in the 2nd and 3rd book.

I did like the characters especially Grandma Betty, but I have to admit I am tired of the love triangles, maybe the authors think it gives the book some more interests and twists, but like everyone else they are just not original anymore. Overall though this book series was a fun read, and I liked how she kept it clean for the most part (even though the book covers make you think otherwise)-so refreshing in today's world.
